Airbus Defence and Space
and SCARBOn
Airbus is heavily involved in the SCARBOn project, leveraging its extensive expertise across multiple sites, particularly in France and the Netherlands.
Airbus Defence and Space in Toulouse, France, coordinates the project, leading the consolidation of the overall satellite constellation, which is crucial for monitoring greenhouse gases from space. The team in Toulouse is also responsible for major project management tasks and the overall technical and strategic direction. Previously, Airbus Defence and Space successfully coordinated the Horizon 2020 SCARBO project, setting the stage for the follow-up project, SCARBOn, to achieve greater maturity under Horizon Europe.
Airbus Defence and Space in the Netherlands is a key consortium member, contributing to the development of satellite instruments. The Dutch team plays a significant role in the SCARBOn project by focusing on the integration and performance of the SPEXone instrument, a compact aerosol sensor that enhances the measurement capabilities of the NanoCarb sensors.
Additionally, Airbus Defence and Space in Spain makes its contribution to the SCARBOn airborne campaign activities through instrumentation interfaces integration on the aircraft.
Through these contributions, Airbus Defence and Space effectively combines its resources and expertise across Europe to drive the SCARBOn project's goals forward, demonstrating its capacity to lead complex international technology projects in the aerospace sector.
